Experience
Jean Bousquet is Professor of Pulmonary Medicine at the University of Montpellier. He is also the Director of the World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centre for Asthma and Rhinitis in Montpellier. After qualifying in medicine, he obtained his doctorate before training in allergology and thoracic medicine at Montpellier University Hospital.
Professor Bousquet is Chairman of the non-governmental organization ARIA, which is a world health initiative on allergic rhinitis that is being carried out in collaboration with the WHO. He is also Chairman of the WHO Global Alliance against Chronic Respiratory Diseases (GARD) and scientific coordinator of the European Union Network of Excellence: Global Allergy and Asthma (GA2LEN). He is also a past-Chairman of the Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA). Professor Bousquet has received numerous honours and awards, and was recently given the World Lung Health Award by the American Thoracic Society. He is a past Editor of the European Respiratory Review, and is currently Editor of Allergy. He is a past member of the Advisory Board of Clinical and Experimental Allergy, and has been on the Editorial Boards of numerous prestigious journals including the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine.
