The slides in this module are focused on the global burden of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). COPD and its associated symptoms (cough, breathlessness, sputum) and decline in lung function demonstrated by spirometry result in decreased patient quality of life and increased cost of care as well as indirect costs (e.g., lost wages due to illness).
